Live, From Portsmouth, It’s Market Square Day!
PORTSMOUTH, NH. May 20, 2021 Pro Portsmouth, producers of large downtown events since 1978, has announced that the Market Square Day Festival and 10K Road Race will both return on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
The decision to hold Market Square Day in September, postponed from its traditional date, the second Saturday in June, was made in order to maximize the number of folks getting vaccinated, and have COVID-19 numbers continue to decrease, hopefully making people more comfortable with being out and about.
“We’ve been working with the City Staff for months, and will continue to do so to ensure that our neighbors and local businesses, runners and race walkers, vendors and visitors, all enjoy a safe event,” noted Barbara Massar, Executive Director of Pro Portsmouth.
The Booth Application Process will be posted on the organization’s website, https://www.proportsmouth.org/ in early June. All 2020 accepted applicants’ will be honored this year, and will receive specific information regarding how to participate in September.
The Market Square Day 10K Road Race is part of the Seacoast Road Race, and according to Massar, this year’s Series’ races present a mix of in-person and virtual. Market Square Day 10K runners and walkers who deferred their registration last year will receive information regarding their participation from Pro Portsmouth. Race registration will be posted here, https://www.proportsmouth.org/MSDRoadRace.cfm in early June.
Seacoast Road Race Series information is available at: https://www.proportsmouth.org/SeacoastSeries.cfm The Series kicks of on Sunday, May 23rd with the Virtual Cisco Brewers Portsmouth Memorial Day 5K.
